Seasons Gizmo

Many things work together to cause seaons. The Earth's axis is on a 23.5 degree tilt. This angle never changes but as the Earth revolves around the sun different parts of the Earth are getting more direct sunlight. In June, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted more towards the sun getting more direct sunlight and the season summer and the Southern is tilted more away causeing less direct sunlight and the season winter. In December, it is the opposite causeing summer in the Southern Hemisphere and winter in the Northern Hemisphere. In spring and fall sunlight is evenly distributed.

Perspective

The book Zoom, by Istvan Banyai, showed how assumtions of what something is can change as you get a bigger picture. It showed that each person would come up with something different depending on their perspective. I noticed my inferences weren't as big picture as some other peoples. My inferences were just looking a little farther out.

Changing your perspective can change how you see something. If you see something from another angle or the other side then it could give you a different perspective. Also events in your life life can cause a change in perspective. Trauma in any form can change perspective also. Another thing that can change your perspective is drama.

Astrologists and geologists may use perspective in their line of science. Astrologists may use a closer perspective to study a planet's surface. They also may use a farther perspective to study the set up of a solar system. Geologists may use a close perspective to see the build up of soil. A farther perspective may be used for how the earth had been made up.

Enigma Box

Scientists use 5 skills: observing, inferring, classifying, predicting, and making models. In the enigma box activity observation was used to see what the box looked like and to see when the water came out. Predicting was used to guess what the was for. To guess how the box worked inferring was used. A model was made to understand the box and nothing was classifyed.
The enigma box is a box of confusion. It is a black rectangular box with 4 plexy glass sides and 2 ends. The top has a large hole and a small hole while the bottom has a tube coming out. At 350ml water started dripping and at 500ml the all the water started pouring out.
Inside the enigma box is a mystery at first sight. I think it comes out when there is enough pressure. One example is a faucet because you need pressure for it to go through the pipes and out the faucet. Also your bladder is an example because when it is full your body will push it out.
In the confusion of the Enigma Box answers were found. The box has a tube inside that is twisted in a loop. When the box was fill to a certain point the water overflows the tube. Once it started flowing the air pressure would keep pushing it through the tube until the box was empty. That was the solution to the Enigma Box
